API is continually upgrading its operations to ensure that high standards are maintained. We are currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Operations Manager at our Hatchery Division in Newfoundland.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the best practices in all aspects of hatchery management: incubation, hygiene, vaccinations, storage, transportation, animal welfare, audits and quality assurance. She/He will ensure incubators and other equipment are maintained as per manufacturer’s manuals and recommendations at all times, ensuring planned and preventative maintenance are completed on the facility, inside and out.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for procurement/inventory management, ensuring hatching eggs are received, stored and handled in clean bio-secure conditions for setting and transfer to ensure chicks are hatched, processed and transported in the best condition. She/He will continue to maintain and create good relationships with customers, suppliers and service providers. The Operations Manager will direct the work of staff, including hiring and disciplining as required, and ensure each has proper training to perform tasks safely and efficiently. She/He will maintain cost controls, manage capital projects as required, obtain quotes, and prepare timelines and budgets. She/He will operate and maintain the transport fleet in the best condition.
Qualifications for this position require an individual with:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, agriculture, biology or other life science
Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory role Previous experience dealing with operations required to meet CFIA standards an asset.
Strong commitment to health & safety
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allows one to work effectively in a diverse working environment, ensuring a positive culture locally and corporately
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Excellent computer skills, and experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, Access.

Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Good organizational and communication skills
